Managing active and inactive QR codes

Every QR code in Unqode SmartQR has an active/inactive status. Active codes redirect normally; inactive codes show an error to anyone who scans them.

Deactivating a QR code

  1. Go to Dashboard → QR Codes.
  2. Find the QR code and click the toggle switch next to it, or open it and toggle the Active switch.
  3. The code is immediately deactivated. Scanners will see "This QR code is inactive".

Bulk activate/deactivate

  1. Select multiple QR codes using the checkboxes.
  2. Click Toggle Active in the bulk actions toolbar.
  3. All selected codes are toggled simultaneously.

Automatic deactivation

QR codes can also deactivate automatically in three scenarios:

  • An expiry date passes
  • A scan limit is reached
  • The account is downgraded and the QR type is no longer supported on the lower plan

Deleting vs deactivating

Deleting a QR code permanently removes it and its analytics data. The redirect URL returns a 404 error forever. We recommend deactivating rather than deleting — you can always reactivate later and the analytics data is preserved.

ℹ️ Deactivated QR codes do not count against your Free plan limit of 3 codes. Only active QR codes are counted.
