Managing active and inactive QR codes
Every QR code in Unqode SmartQR has an active/inactive status. Active codes redirect normally; inactive codes show an error to anyone who scans them.
Deactivating a QR code
- Go to Dashboard → QR Codes.
- Find the QR code and click the toggle switch next to it, or open it and toggle the Active switch.
- The code is immediately deactivated. Scanners will see "This QR code is inactive".
Bulk activate/deactivate
- Select multiple QR codes using the checkboxes.
- Click Toggle Active in the bulk actions toolbar.
- All selected codes are toggled simultaneously.
Automatic deactivation
QR codes can also deactivate automatically in three scenarios:
- An expiry date passes
- A scan limit is reached
- The account is downgraded and the QR type is no longer supported on the lower plan
Deleting vs deactivating
Deleting a QR code permanently removes it and its analytics data. The redirect URL returns a 404 error forever. We recommend deactivating rather than deleting — you can always reactivate later and the analytics data is preserved.
ℹ️ Deactivated QR codes do not count against your Free plan limit of 3 codes. Only active QR codes are counted.
