Setting expiry dates and scan limits
Expiry dates and scan limits let you automatically control how long a QR code stays active — useful for time-limited offers, event tickets, or capacity-limited access.
Expiry date
Set a date and time after which the QR code automatically deactivates. Scanners after the expiry see a "This QR code has expired" message.
- Open a QR code in the editor (Pro plan required).
- Find the Expiry Date field.
- Pick a date and time.
- Save the QR code.
Once expired, the QR code is automatically set to inactive in your dashboard. You can manually reactivate it by removing the expiry date and saving.
Scan limit
Set a maximum number of scans. After that many scans, the code deactivates and shows a "Scan limit reached" message.
- Open a QR code in the editor (Pro plan required).
- Find the Scan Limit field.
- Enter the maximum number of scans.
- Save.
Use cases
- Flash sale — expires at midnight on the last day of the sale
- Event access — scan limit equals maximum attendee capacity
- Limited offer voucher — 100 uses only, first come first served
- Seasonal campaign — automatically deactivates at end of season
💡 Combine an expiry date with a scan limit for maximum control. The code deactivates whichever condition is hit first.
