URL QR code setup guide
The URL QR code is the most versatile type — it redirects anyone who scans it to any website or web page. It supports UTM parameters, geo-targeting, A/B testing, and retargeting pixels.
Setting up a URL QR code
- Go to Dashboard → Create QR Code.
- Select Website URL.
- Enter the destination URL (must start with
https://orhttp://). - Optionally set a Display URL label — a shorter human-readable version shown in the dashboard.
- Click Create QR Code.
Updating the destination URL
You can change where the QR code redirects at any time — open the QR code, update the URL, and save. The change is instant. The printed QR code never changes; only the redirect destination changes.
Pro features for URL QR codes
- UTM parameters — automatically append tracking parameters to the URL
- Password protection — require a password before redirecting
- Expiry date — automatically deactivate on a set date
- Scan limit — stop redirecting after N scans
- Custom slug — choose your own short URL (e.g.
smartqr.unqode.com/r/my-brand)
Business features for URL QR codes
- Geo-targeting — redirect to different URLs by country
- A/B testing — split traffic between two URLs
- Retargeting pixels — fire FB/Google/TikTok pixels on every scan
ℹ️ URL QR codes are the only type that support geo-targeting, A/B testing, and retargeting pixels. Other QR types (WiFi, vCard, etc.) are not compatible with these features.
