WiFi QR code — all devices and encryption types
A WiFi QR code lets guests join your network by scanning — no need to read out a long password. When scanned, the device is prompted to connect to the network automatically.
Creating a WiFi QR code
- Go to Dashboard → Create QR Code.
- Select WiFi Network.
- Enter your Network Name (SSID) exactly as it appears (case-sensitive).
- Enter your Password.
- Select the Security type: WPA/WPA2 (most common), WEP (legacy), or None (open network).
- Click Create QR Code.
Security types explained
- WPA/WPA2 — the standard for modern routers. Select this unless you know your network uses something different.
- WEP — older, less secure encryption. Only select if your router specifically uses WEP.
- None — open network with no password. Anyone who scans can join.
Device compatibility
- iOS 11+ — scans and prompts to join automatically via the Camera app.
- Android 10+ — native WiFi QR support in the Camera app.
- Android 8–9 — may require a third-party QR scanner app.
- Windows / macOS — shows network credentials on screen for manual entry.
⚠️ WiFi QR codes encode the password in a readable format. Don't display them in public areas where you wouldn't want non-guests connecting. For guest networks, use a separate SSID with a password you can rotate regularly.
💡 Update your WiFi QR code whenever you change the network password. With a dynamic QR code, you just update the password in your dashboard — the printed code continues to work.
